Destroyer Escort Historical Museum

A Bit of New York History Preserved

This historical museum in Upstate NY is a preserved and restored destroyer escort ship from WWII - the last of its kind remaining afloat in the US. When you visit you can follow your tour guide as you walk the decks of the USS Slater, climb up and down the stairways and ladders, see the bunks where sailors slept and imagine what life was like for sailors during the mid 1900s.

 

See the gear and artifacts that belonged to some of the original crew and learn about the history of this great warship. Before you leave, visit the ship's store and pick up a souvenir of your visit.  This unique Upstate NY historical museum is open 10am to 4pm Wednesday through Sunday from April to November.
