Rock Bands in New York

Cameo A Live Art Gallery is the best place for rock bands in New York City.  Located just behind Williamsburg's Lovin' Cup Café, this out-of-the-way, unassuming venue is a sensational surprise. Not an actual club, but a studio, they are dedicated to classic rock which shakes the floors, featuring various rock bands in New York, throughout the year. 

 

Check out the calendar on their website to find out what bands are schedule for a performance. Most performances have a ticket price between $7 and $12, some are a little more.  Band performances usually start at 8 P.M. and there is an age restriction of 21 and older.

Mercury Lounge

The Mercury Lounge 
Not very large, but definitely cool, the Mercury Lounge is a fantastic place to enjoy great rock bands in New York.  Seating is limited, space is narrow, you may be standing; but, if you are okay to wait a bit, before sitting near the band, you can enjoy a drink at the bar. Smaller and relatively newer great rock bands in New York play here; and, many successful artists have actually started here.

Check their website for schedule of performers.  Most tickets cost $10.00; advanced purchasing is available.  Shows usually start one hour after doors open.  Support bands open for the headliners; the headliner band usually gets on stage at 10:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.  Call during business hours the day of the show to confirm (212-260-4700).

Rockwood Music Hall

The Rockwood Music Hall has 21 venues! 
Come enjoy some of the smaller, but very, very talented, new/upcoming, independent, rock bands in New York at The Rockwood Music Hall.  There is a bar and two stages. Seating is very close, but the atmosphere is both friendly and cozy. Stage one is small but it is a really nice place to come and see great musicians. Stage two is a bit louder; but the energy is fantastic for great rock bands in New York!

The environment is laid back and friendly with non-pretentious brick wall, wooden tables, and candles.  The staff members are very nice and accommodating. Check their website for a “buy ticket option.”  Unless otherwise noted, shows are free of charge.  This is a great place to see live, upcoming, talented rock bands. Stage one is scheduled to open at 6:00 P.M., Monday through Friday; 3:00 P.M. on Saturday and Sunday.  There is no cover charge, only a one drink minimum per set.

Thunderbox

Have a Rockin' Good Time with this All-Girl Rock Band!

One of the coolest all-girl rock bands in New York, Thunderbox is a tribute to some of the best metal artists throughout history like Iron Maiden, Metallica, Black Sabbath, Slayer, and AC/DC.  All four members possess a great passion for performing, bringing an impeccable degree of talent and sex appeal to each and every show.

Union Hall

Union Hall is one of those unique venues that you just have to see.
This large, open bar and restaurant, is perfect for experiencing some of the best rock bands in New York. Union Hall is incomparable to other clubs; having been converted from a warehouse, the wide open space welcomes you to outdoor gardens and seating, warm firesides, indoor bocce courts, and an old-world library.  This venue is a shadow of the old style gentleman’s club, but with modern updates, is completely friendly and welcoming to all visitors. In addition to hosting great rock bands in New York, Union Hall offers comedy and karaoke.  This 5,000 square foot property is also available for private parties.

Hours are Monday through Friday, 4:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.; Weekends from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.  Food/drinks are available; prices start at $4.00.  Check the website for a schedule of performances; many shows are free; advanced ticket purchases are available through TicketWeb.
