Apollo Theater

World Famous Stage in New York

The goal of this famous theater is to honor and advance the contributions to the arts by African American artists and to help emerging artists in their craft. This historic landmark theater's stage has been graced by such talents as Tony Bennet, The Artist formerly known as Prince, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday and the Count Basie Orchestra.

 

Having been the debut stage for many artists who later reached world fame, the Apollo continues to give emerging artists that opportunity with regular "Amateur Nights" and educational programs.

Center Stage Playhouse

Great off-off-Broadway Plays!

For more than 40 years this playhouse has been producing high quality shows and has been entertaining the Bronx community. Though not an official "off-Broadway" venue, this playhouse specializes in putting on off-Broadway plays and musicals. This is a great place to see that play you weren't able to catch in the city!

 

Performances are held at the Bronx's Mercy College - a state of the art campus with a great performing arts theater. Plays by the playhouse cast as well as shows by guest theater groups are presented regularly - check their schedule online to see what's playing now!

David H. Koch Theater

Home of the NYC Ballet!

This beautifully designed theater is the home of the New York City Ballet and hosts many other performances by acclaimed dance groups, artists and performers. With comfortable seating for 2,586, a beautiful gold paneled domed ceiling and warm sparkling lighting, this theater is a work of art in itself. When you visit you can view the famous art works that grace the promenade area by artists such as Jasper Johns and Reuben Nakian.

Gateway Playhouse

One of the Oldest Theaters on Long Island!

This playhouse has been delighting theater-goers for over 60 years with its professionally staged plays and musicals. Acting and dance troups present musicals, dramas, dance shows, comedians and special performances all summer long. The theater has seating for up to 500 and has state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems.

 

Gateway Plahouse is a summer theater which presents shows only for a season each year and is closed for rehearsals and acting classes the rest of the year. This theater hopes to instill a love and appreciation for theater arts in all its audiences and the local community.

Kumble Theater

A Great Venue at Long Island University!

This NY theater for the performing arts is host to a variety of performances throughout the year. Located on the Brooklyn campus of Long Island University, this theater's events are open to the public. A state-of-the-art venue with seating for up to 320 people and top of the line lighting and sound equipment, this is a great place to visit for a performance.

Patchogue Theatre

One of the Top Live Theaters in NY's Long Island!

This theater in Patchogue, Long Island was originally built in 1923. Restored to its former glory in the mid 1990s it now hosts a vibrant theater season each year. With seating for up to 1,166, a state-of-the-art world class sound system and Broadway lighting and rigging this theatre in NY is a wonderful place to see any performance.

St. George Theatre

Named for the famous singer of the 1950s this theater strives to present shows that uplift and entertain. With shows that are specifically targeted toward the African/Caribbean American community, many famous artists and actors have performed on this theater's stage including Samuel L. Jackson, Carol Woods and Dick Gregory.

 

Four major productions a year are presented at this theater in addition to many smaller shows aimed at a teen and child audience. Regular holiday events and presentations take place each year ensuring that no matter what time of year you visit you'll find a professional and entertaining play or production being staged.

The Chocolate Factory

Huge Variety at this Performance Space!

This unique theater has a goal of emphasizing multi-disciplinary collaborative projects in the arts. They host a huge variety of shows and acts, many of which cannot be easily classified as dance, theater or music but instead are artistic mixes of these art forms. The Chocolate Factory's 5,000 square foot performance space is flexible in use, making it ideal for experimental performances and dance based art.

This vibrant theater company in Staten Island is dedicated to providing the community with affordable, top quality shows in a variety of genres. Producing four unique shows each season, this great theater company will keep you coming back for each of their shows.

The Joyce Theater

One of the Top Dance Theaters in NY!

The Palace Theatre

Historic New York Theater!

This theater is home to the Albany Symphony Orchestra and host to such famous and diverse talent as Bruce Springsteen, the Rolling Stones and Celtic Woman. Originally built as a movie theater in the 1930s it was the world's third largest at the time.  Still an impressive building, the Palace Theatre is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
