Prospect Park

A Home to Some of NYC's Most Beautiful Birds!

Enjoy a memorable bird-watching expedition through NYC's Prospect Park--home to over 200 species of birds!  Located along the Atlantic Flyway for North American bird migration, the park is one of the go-to places for birding in NYC.  You'll even find rare birds like the Pied-billed Grebe, the American Bittern, and the Saw-whet Owl.  Other birds commonly spotted in the area are the Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, the Green Heron, the Red-tailed Hawk, and 18 species of ducks.

The website includes an interactive map, in which you can view the best bird-watching sites in the park.  If you're new to the sport of bird-watching, the Audubon Center hosts an Introduction to Bird-Watching tour every Saturday from 12 to 1:30 in the afternoon.  Learn fascinated details about the many species of birds that frequent the area.
